Japanese gate

For this painting I was inspired by a ‘Japanese Gate’ as the title says , which I’ve seen at the ‘Royal Botanic Gardens’ in London. I really liked the architecture of the gate, but I was also impressed by some rounded sculptures made out of glass that were placed in front of the gate by an artist called Dale Chihuly. The hole image made me want to paint it , so I did. I really like the combination of colours at this artwork, the subtle shades of green in combination with the bright pink/orange surfaces. I also feel that the rounded shapes inspired by the glass sculptures complete the whole composition.
