For this painting I was inspired by an architectural detail from a door which I have found in London. I wanted to create a dynamic composition using strong brush strokes. What I really like about this painting is the sensation of freedom and hope it gives me because of the colours and the way I painted it.

Acrylic and oil pastels on canvasThe inspiration for this painting was a photo I have taken with a piece of wood. I was really intrigued by the structure and the texture of the wood. At first I wanted to paint something realistic, but when I decided to work with pink, red and orange the outcome changed completely. What I really like about this painting is the contrast between the surfaces which are more pictorial and the white and yellow ones where I drew some lines with oil pastels. I feel this kind of contrast gives the artwork more depth.

'Gothic detail'

As the title indicates, this painting was inspired from an old church. I wanted at first to paint the details really realistic, but then I decided to make it look like an old frame with some bright colours in the middle. What I like about this painting are the ‘old’ aspects of the frame in contrast with the rounded shapes.
